News: brief announcements about the mail that SMSTA has received in the last month about campus happenings

-most notably, we received a thank you letter from an organization to which we donated money last semester

We covered practical information about SMSTA:

-membership dues are $18 per year ($13 to the state organization, $5 local dues)

-please give your membership form and dues to Angie

-your membership in SMSTA gives you $2 million of liability insurance in the classroom

We also talked briefly about the new mentoring program, where an older SMSTA member will mentor a new SMSTA member to inform them about the MAE and what to do as an undergrad student to be successful. Please email us if you’re interested in participating either a mentor or mentee.

Finally, we played the M&M game to get to know each other better. We finished by playing Education Jeopardy, which was fun and educational for all.

Please note that our next meeting will be October 6, at 4:30 in VH 1320. We will be covering the MAE and new admissions policies.
